Seven signs it is time to redesign your website
A website is not forever. What felt modern a few years ago can quietly start working against you — costing you enquiries you never even know you missed. So how do you tell the difference between a site that needs a tidy-up and one that needs a rebuild? Here are seven signs it is time.
1. It does not work well on a phone
Most people will visit your site on a phone. If they have to pinch, zoom and squint, they will leave. A site that is not genuinely mobile-friendly is losing business every day.
2. It is slow
Every extra second a page takes to load costs you visitors. If your site feels sluggish, it is not just annoying — it is driving people away and working against your search rankings too.
3. It looks dated
Design moves on, and a site that looks a decade old makes even a great business feel behind the times. First impressions form in seconds, and your website is usually the first one.
4. You cannot update it yourself
If changing a phone number means emailing a developer and waiting, your site is a liability. Modern sites put simple updates back in your hands.
5. It is not bringing in enquiries
A website should do a job: turn visitors into leads or customers. If yours is just a digital brochure that sits there, it is not earning its keep.
6. It no longer matches your business
Businesses evolve. If your site still describes services you have moved on from — or fails to mention the ones you are proud of — it is telling the wrong story.
7. It is hard to find on Google
If customers cannot find you when they search, much of your site's value is locked away. Sometimes the foundations need rebuilding for search engines to take you seriously.
One or two? Maybe wait. Several? It is time.
The odd sign might be fixable on your current site. But if you are nodding along to several of these, a redesign will almost always pay for itself. If you are not sure which camp you are in, we are happy to take a look and tell you honestly.
